Happy Friday everyone!  Please join me in welcoming our Featured Guest, Jennifer Ciriano, here at the Come On Get Crafty blog today!  

Hi, my name is Jennifer Ciriano.  I'm from Brooklyn, NY and must confess that I am a very proud "Brooklynite".  I'm the wife to an amazing man and a mom to three awesome kids.  I am happy to be a SAHM again, after working in the medical field.  Being a homemaker now allows me to have more time for my family and to scrap and study photography.  

I have been crafting since before I can remember.  My mom enjoyed several crafts at home, so I was brought up around it.  Through the years I have tried a lot of different crafts, but as an adult I found my true love...scrapping.  I have been scrapbooking for well over a decade now.  It all started with some card store baby albums, a scrapbook kit from my mom, and some episodes of the Carroll Duvall show.  This eventually led me to find the wonderful online scrapbooking community, which opened up a whole new scrapbook world for me.  In earlier years, I enjoyed paper piecing and I secretly wish it was still popular, but what gave me my real love for this hobby is how aware it made me of life and life's moments.  I love that I can sit down with pretty supplies and remember all of our past moments.  This also gives me another chance to be grateful for all of them.  Scrapbooking also jump-started me with Project Life TM this year.  I now wish I would have started earlier.  Project Life TM allows everyday events to be recorded, that we wouldn't otherwise remember.  

I wouldn't say that I have a definitive style.  I like to try a lot of different trends with my layouts.  It keeps it fun and interesting.  Currently, I like happy colors.  

 

I am over the moon happy to be a guest designer here on the Come On Get Crafty blog and I want to thank Nicole and Adrienne for this exciting opportunity!

Hello everyone!  I'm Melanie Blackburn and I'm so very excited to be guest designing for Come On Get Crafty!  A little bit about me...I'm currently a SAHM to 3 beautiful girls.  I started crafting when my oldest was born 8 years ago and I'm so very grateful for discovering this hobby.  Along the way, I've met some amazing people who I now call friends.  I've also had various opportunities which have helped me become the scrabooker/crafter that I am today.  I love to play with paper, it satisfies two needs; one of which is to preserve memories for my family and the other is to do something crafty. I've always loved paper products.  As a young girl I loved to browse the aisles of the local paper crafting store.  I had a wide collection of notebooks, pretty pens, and stickers.  This love of paper has now taken the form of scrapbooking.  I describe my style as "eclectic flair".  I love to mix patterns, embellishments, and include fun accents on my layouts.  I love to add lots of layers and techniques to my projects and sewing on a layout is also a must for me.  I'm so very happy to be sharing my layout with you today.  Thank you Nicole and Adrienne!

Hi! I'm Emily, and I'm excited to be featured here at Come On Get Crafty! I started scrapbooking in about 5th grade!  I wanted a way to keep track of all my photos, so I grabbed some white typing paper and crayons and I was off.  I've been scrapbooking more seriously the past 5 years, and I've gotten much more involved in the online scrapbooking community and the whole world of publishing and design teams, which is very fun and exciting. I consider my style to be colorful and simple with fun little touches. I'm inspired by colors, patterns, and great product.

 

1. Three things I can't scrap without: patterned paper, my Cameo, my Selphy printer!  It's funny - the last two are new purchases in the last year, and they have totally changed the way I scrapbook!!  
 

 

2. Something you'd never guess about me...if I was not a music teacher, I would have been an English teacher. I love reading and writing, though my lovely children have made it a little difficult to read or write as much as I would like!

Happy Friday, everyone!  I'm so excited to be featuring Katie Rose here on the blog today!  

My name is Katie Rose.  I live in a small town on the coast of New Hampshire with my husband and our 3 kids...2 boys and a little girl, who keep me on my toes.  I've been scrapbooking for about 12 years.  I think my style changes a little every year, but I always try to keep the focus on my photos.  I am currently really into the anchor trend and I also love arrows.  I use them on almost every page!  Lately, I am really inspired by quilt designs on my layouts.  I find tons of them on Pinterest.  When I'm not scrapbooking I actually run a business.  I co-own a childcare center for 120 kids with my sister.  We are in our 12th year of business and I am now able to do my work from home, which leaves me some extra time for scrapbooking!  I am super excited to be featured here on Come On Get Crafty...thanks so much!

Here's a little bit about Cindy:

Hi!  I'm Cindy Bell. I am a retired Stay-at-home-Mom and a brand new "Homesteader".  I am Mom to two grown boys.  One of whom is currently expecting his first child (my FIRST Grandchild!) with his lovely wife and the other who just graduated college.  My hubby and I decided to follow our life long dream this year and we purchased our retirement "homestead" in the lovely Virginia countryside.  He still has a couple of years left of work before full retirement so we travel back and forth between our "city" home and the "homestead"  weekly.  Besides beginning this new chapter of our life, I LOVE to scrapbook!  It makes me so happy when I get a chance to create and the finished product is something everyone in our family just loves!  I don't really have a certain style.  It all depends on what mood I'm in and how much time I have available.  Some of my pages are simplistic and others are what I like to call "artsy".  My favorite thing right now is the "Project Life" style of scrapping.  I find myself taking more pics of the everyday around here and taking the time to tell the story of went on in our life during that week.  I like to use all different styles and sizes of page protectors to convey my week through pictures and journaling.  With all the change that has been going on in our lives over the past months it has been great to look back through it all and see all that we have accomplished. 

Something you'd never guess about me....I'll give you two things... I have a secret love for music from the 40's and fifties.  I guess it's the ballroom dancing that makes it so fun to listen to.

 

The other is my secret sister language, scirish.  Pronounced sky rish.  It's a cross between scottish and Irish.  We start talking with this accent and we can't keep it straight.

My name is Malika Kelly.  I am a stay-at-home mother to three fabulous children (two boys and a girl)  and wife to a hard-working husband.  I grew up in Toronto, Canada, but have lived in central Illinois for the past 13 years.  I have always been artistic in one form or another, even as a young child.  I started scrapbooking over 10 years ago.  In the last couple of years, I became more active, teaching classes at a local store and creating a blog.  My style is whimsical, yet eclectic.  I love to layer, starting with ink splatters and stamps, and then building layers of patterned papers.  I almost always stitch on my layouts (either with my machine or by hand).  Finally, I add clusters of embellishments such as bits of wood veneer, sequins, and enamel dots.  Layouts, mini albums, and Project Life are some of my favorite projects right now.  I currently design for Belle Blvd, Chic Tags, and Epiphany Crafts.

And so we could get to know Malika even better, I asked her these 5 questions...

1.  What's your favorite scrapbooking trend right now?
 

I have kind of been stuck on arrows and chevrons these days.  I love that you can add them to any layout!

2.  What time of day do you usually find time to scrap?  
 

As a mother of three kids, I always feel like there is never enough time!  I have a scrapbook room set up downstairs so I can leave unfinished projects out and stop by and work on them throughout the day, even if it's just 10 minutes here and there.  I like to take a bit of time on the preschool mornings to scrap ...and then in the evenings when everyone is in bed.  So pretty much whenever I can find the time!  

3.  What's your favorite color combo?

 

Aquas and grays are catching my attention these days.  Especially with of pop of gold.  

4.  What's your favorite embellishment to use on a layout?

I love adding little bits of sequins, tiny wood veneers, and a single piece of flair to a layout to finish it off.  Usually in a cluster.

5.  Where do you go to find inspiration for your creations?

I find inspiration all over the place in my everyday world!  An ad in a magazine, a sign at a store, even artwork my kids bring home can inspire me.  Pinterest has also changed the way I scrapbook these days.  I keep a board of sketches that I like and a board of layouts that I admire and color combinations, etc.  I will look at it as a starting point thinking, "I want to make something like that...", but usually by the end of my process, I have made something completely different.  I love to know that just browsing Pinterest boards can get me thinking about being creative.

1. When is your favorite time to create? (Night owl or early bird)
 

I used to really be a night owl, but as the weather gets nicer, I tend to work on things during the day or squeeze it in whenever I can. Good snacks are essential for creating no matter what time of day. LOL!

3. What is something we would never guess about you?
 

Some people may already know this, but I love hunting. There is something so wonderful about sitting in a tree stand on a crisp fall evening or watching the sun rise as turkeys gobble on a Spring morning. It's something my husband I love to do together when we can. But usually we have to take turns in the woods while the other stays at home with the kids.

4. Where would your fantasy vacation spot be?
 

I would love a rustic camping trip in the mountains with my hubby & kids.

 Hi!  My name is Jenifer Walker and I currently live in Maryland, right outside of D.C.  I am an RN, but have chosen to be a stay-at-home-mom to my two lovely children, Marcus and Kaitlyn.  They are, by far, my favorite "project" and they keep me very busy!  I am a proud Navy wife to my wonderful husband, Matt, for 18 years!  Simply put, he makes me laugh even when things seem bad.  

I have been scrapbooking since 1997, the year my first child was born.  Through the years I have tried many crafts/projects, but my favorite is papercrafting.  I do traditional layouts as well as Project Life, mini albums, and cards.  

We asked Jenifer a few questions to get to know more about her creative side:

1.  How would you describe your scrapbooking style?

I have a "why finish now, what you can embellish later" kind of attitude when it comes to my scrapbooking and my style is more on the modern or trendy side.  I often go for the more graphic papers and I love incorporating the "latest thing" into my layouts.  It's rare for me to finish a layout in one sitting.  When I get stuck, I put it aside and come back to it later.  This works for me.  It's pretty normal for me to have several things that I am working on at the same time.  

2.  What's your favorite color combo that you use on your layout?

I don't have one!  I am always trying something new.  I love taking pictures of a shirt or a rug in a store and turning it into a layout.  Target is great for this!  

3.  What's one tool that you use on every project?

Die-cut machines!   I have a Cricut and a Silhouette.  They both are great for different reasons.  I have loved the Cricut for years.  It's easy to use and a no brainer.  Enter Silhouette.  The Silhouette is a creative powerhouse.  If you can think it, you can make it into a cut file.  I am always using the print and cut feature.  

4.  What are some of your favorite scrapbooking trends right now?

Chevron!!!  Chevron paper, wood veneers, die-cuts, washi tape, stamps, stickers.....I die!  I just love them!  Is your layout missing something?  Add chevrons!

5.  What is the best scrap-related product that you have purchased?

See question 3.  Die-cut machines change the way you scrap forever!  They are dynamic tools that remain useful throughout the changing trends of scrapbooking.

Hi! My name is Julie Weis and I am so excited and honored to be featured today. My husband and I live in the beautiful state of Kentucky with our awesomely unique 17 year old son, Jake and he is most often the inspiration for my pages. I began scrapbooking in 2000 when a friend invited me to a Creative Memories party. Since then I have had many styles. But when I look back, I love them all. Something that has not changed is the fact that I rarely use a sketch. So I never know exactly what my page will look like until the very end.
 

My other interests include: sewing, quilting, knitting and very amateur photography. 

For some added fun, we had Julie answer a few questions:
 

1. My favorite manufacturer is:
 
Wow, this is a hard question because I love so many and I love mixing different manufacturers on the same page. But I can tell you that right at this moment my faves are Glitz Design and Maggie Holmes for Crate paper. Their   CHA 2013 releases are amazing and they mix so well together. I also love  Studio Calico, Amy Tan's lines, Freckled Fawn wood veneers,  all of Evalicious stamps, Basic Grey and Allison Kreft's Sweet Notes line for Websters Pages.
 

2. My three must have items when I create:

Easy! ;) The Silhouette Cameo, foam adhesives / pop dots, mist and stamps. Ok not so easy. I had to have four.

3. My favorite time to create:

My first answer is late at night when it is quiet. My second answer is when my house is clean and my hubby is out of town. Now when all three of those line up, I'm in creative heaven. lol!

 

4. I'd love an all expense paid trip to:
 
I love history and especially biblical history. I have a passion for putting together what was going on in the world during both the old and new testament times. So JD and I are finally at a place in our lives where we can take a 'trip of a lifetime" to Israel, Greece and Rome. There will be two biblical scholars leading the trip and teaching us along the way. The only thing that would make it better is if it were all expenses paid.
