Come On Get Crafty

Good Morning! This is Melissa back again sharing a new layout with you on this fine Friday morning! 

I love the Studio Calico faux polariod frames but wanted to use them in a different way. I thought about a couple of different ways to use them, but finally decided to use them as a background element to this layout. I sewed them down the length of this layout off the left hand side and the placed my photo in the upper right hand corner. I then used some of my favorite little embellishments such as enamel dots, flair, and wood veneer shapes to cluster in the little polaroid frames. 

SUPPLIES: Mayberry Paper, Freckled Fawn Enamel Dew Drops, Fancy Pants Trendsetter Flair, Fancy Pants Cork Stickers, Lily Bee Sweet Shop Bundle, Studio Calico Sundrifter Vellum Frames. 

These little frames can be used in so many ways! You could lay them horizonally across your layout as a border; you could actually use them as frames; you could cover the entire background of your layout in them as a fun layer...so many possibilities!

Hello everyone!  I'm here today showcasing my "Everyday life. Documented." spread for Week 30.  

We spent most of the week soaking up every last bit of summertime that we could...my kiddos start back to school next week!  Where has the time gone?

I used lots of Mint Julep Alphas from Basic Grey to help pull my color scheme together for this week's spread...

The weather seems to already be changing, so we took full advantage of the record low temps and took the kids to St. Louis to visit the City Museum.  They had a blast and it was fun for all ages! 

It was a fairly "normal" week, although we did find out our oldest son has extremely high cholesterol (which was a huge shock), but hopefully can be managed by a new diet plan.

Isn't that photo amazing?!?!  I just love how she used gold accents to bring out the beautiful sunflares in her photo. 

Suz said, "I stayed pretty true to the sketch and decided to use the sentiment stickers not only for my title work, but also to represent the rectangles in the sketch (along with my photo of course).  I kept this layout pretty minimalistic.  Sometimes I like my layouts to be more about the photo + words and less on the embellishments.  (And then sometimes I like to play away with the embellishments!  I guess it just depends  on how I feel on that particular day!) ;) 

"My journaling is hidden beneath the photo as shown below.  It documents how I love the age my DS is at right now; curious, wanting to learn, and still liking to hang out with the 'rents.  I pop-dotted the camera sticker to add a bit of dimension and a little machine stitching down the borders. "

Nicole says, "I loved how this sketch has borders and the potential for lots of layers.  I decided to stamp the borders on the side using the Jillibean Soup stamps and then draw some attention to it with the Lily Bee twine from the embellishment bundle.  I've been grabbing old photos that are already printed trying to create scrapbooks for our older sons who will be graduating from high school soon.  This is one of my favorite photos of my husband with our two oldest kids when they were just starting to love books.  I love how my son is looking at his daddy as he reads...priceless!"

I went all out with rainbow colors to emphasize my photo of the double rainbow that I had captured one summer afternoon after a rain.

Hi, my name is Jennifer Ciriano.  I'm from Brooklyn, NY and must confess that I am a very proud "Brooklynite".  I'm the wife to an amazing man and a mom to three awesome kids.  I am happy to be a SAHM again, after working in the medical field.  Being a homemaker now allows me to have more time for my family and to scrap and study photography.  

I have been crafting since before I can remember.  My mom enjoyed several crafts at home, so I was brought up around it.  Through the years I have tried a lot of different crafts, but as an adult I found my true love...scrapping.  I have been scrapbooking for well over a decade now.  It all started with some card store baby albums, a scrapbook kit from my mom, and some episodes of the Carroll Duvall show.  This eventually led me to find the wonderful online scrapbooking community, which opened up a whole new scrapbook world for me.  In earlier years, I enjoyed paper piecing and I secretly wish it was still popular, but what gave me my real love for this hobby is how aware it made me of life and life's moments.  I love that I can sit down with pretty supplies and remember all of our past moments.  This also gives me another chance to be grateful for all of them.  Scrapbooking also jump-started me with Project Life TM this year.  I now wish I would have started earlier.  Project Life TM allows everyday events to be recorded, that we wouldn't otherwise remember.  

I wouldn't say that I have a definitive style.  I like to try a lot of different trends with my layouts.  It keeps it fun and interesting.  Currently, I like happy colors.  

 

I am over the moon happy to be a guest designer here on the Come On Get Crafty blog and I want to thank Nicole and Adrienne for this exciting opportunity!

Good morning everyone! I'm back today with my monthly pocket pages for May.  This month I used the Project Life Blush Core Kit along with some random items from the shop.

I used the Studio Calico Snippets Journal card, to indicate the month. I plan to use these through the entire year.

The Lily Bee Label Stickers are great to use for journaling right on top of photos.

Did you know with the right kind of pen and ink you can stamp and journal right on top of your photo, like I did here using the Jillibean Chilled Cucumber Soup stamps in the shop.

I also used a bit of the Fancy Pants Trendsetter 6x6 Paper Pad to accent some of my photos and Project Life Blush Core Kit cards.

Hi All! Back to share with you a Travel Edition of "Everyday life. Documented." Last week my hubs and I vacationed in Vegas celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary and attending the CHA (CreateNConnect) summer show. (I attended that solo! -LOL) ;)

Knowing that I wouldn't be able to scrap on the road this time due to luggage restrictions and time, I simply collected ephemera all week including, tickets, napkins, coasters, and other small items to add to my layouts.

Here is my intro page which I added as I could no longer fit any more pages into my album!! So this year is broken into two albums and our summer trip and CHA seemed to be a good place to break the year up into two.

I cut out the bracket frame (below "Hello There") with my Xacto knife and added some color behind it. The Becky Higgins Project Life kit cards from the shop came in very handy in simplifying the process and helping me get this week documented relatively quickly.

Here is the left side:

I pieced together a bunch of sentiment stickers from Fancy Pants to add to the "love this place" Project Life card and layered a few other Project Life cards together to create the Monday card. 

 

Here is a portion of the insert I added to my spread. It houses a bunch of journaling from the PL Days of the Week cards that are in the shop along with some pictures and ephemera (hotel coasters). 

I will simply stitch through the page protector a bit to keep the coasters from falling out. (Thanks Ali Edwards for your continuous inspiration!) 

Here I have added a portion of a napkin from Serendipity 3 ( the restaurant known for it's frozen hot chocolate). I plan to add some more journaling to the "this is life" journaling card as well.

Hello everyone!  I'm Melanie Blackburn and I'm so very excited to be guest designing for Come On Get Crafty!  A little bit about me...I'm currently a SAHM to 3 beautiful girls.  I started crafting when my oldest was born 8 years ago and I'm so very grateful for discovering this hobby.  Along the way, I've met some amazing people who I now call friends.  I've also had various opportunities which have helped me become the scrabooker/crafter that I am today.  I love to play with paper, it satisfies two needs; one of which is to preserve memories for my family and the other is to do something crafty. I've always loved paper products.  As a young girl I loved to browse the aisles of the local paper crafting store.  I had a wide collection of notebooks, pretty pens, and stickers.  This love of paper has now taken the form of scrapbooking.  I describe my style as "eclectic flair".  I love to mix patterns, embellishments, and include fun accents on my layouts.  I love to add lots of layers and techniques to my projects and sewing on a layout is also a must for me.  I'm so very happy to be sharing my layout with you today.  Thank you Nicole and Adrienne!

Stars & Sequins Forever | Product Showcase

 

Hi all! Happy Wednesday! I am posting from a bit of a remote site today (the nearest wifi is about 20 minutes away-LOL) as the fam and I are on a bit of a Staycation at our lake cabin. This week, in honor of the 4th of July I thought I'd showcase "Stars & Stripes {Sequins} Forever," with the Studio Calico Glittered Stars and Atlantic Sequins from the shop.

First up is a clean and simple layout:

I love how versatile these embellishments are and I find myself using them quite often. 

A little bit of cutting, scoring and sewing to finish it off.

And a few cards using the sequins. I love that the package includes both masculine and feminine colors as well as woodgrain ones. *swoon.

I think I channeled my inner Joey Tribbiani (Friends) with this above card. You can hear Joey speaking this, yes? ;)

ETA: I realized that a few sequins didn't stay adhered to my card after uploading these pics. Oh well, you get the idea. :)

My kids and I spent most of our free time this week swimming and hanging out with some of our favorite friends :)  The weather was hot and humid, which is typical for this time of year, so the pool felt extra refreshing this week!
